Cooking

The act of not only feeding yourself but NOURISHING yourself in the early days postpartum can feel insurmountable. I will take care of meal planning, shopping and cooking so that you can focus on getting to know your new baby and allowing your body to rest and recover as much as possible. When I leave after a day of cooking in your home, you will have nutritious meals and snacks tailored to your specific postpartum needs packed away for the week ahead. I cook one to two “main” dishes and one to two “sides” all in large portions. I include broths, herbal infusions and homemade electrolyte drinks to sip throughout the week as well.

Here is a sample of the food I could cook during a session: New Mother’s Dahl with zucchini, carrots, warming spices and fresh spinach, Roasted beets with whipped ricotta, honey and toasted pumpkin seeds, Savory steel cut oats with mushrooms and shallots, Nettle tea infusion and Citrus electrolyte drink with Himalayan salt and coconut water

Packages start at 6 sessions spread over the first 6 weeks postpartum. A session includes approximately 5-6 hours of in-home cooking as well as my time menu planning and grocery shopping.

Care

In the first few weeks postpartum, your home life is turns completely upside down as you navigate your daily scheduling revolving around the newest member. While those days can certainly be magical, it can help to have extra support in your home to make sure things are running smoothly. As an extra set of hands, a postpartum doula can walk into your home and get right to work tidying, organizing and offering some stability to your days. Your families needs are unique and this package offers the flexibility to decide what you need most for each session.

Here are some examples of how I could spend a session in your home:

  • Preparing herbal sitz baths for the birthing parent

  • Holding the baby so parents can get some time alone or protected sleep/shower time

  • Helping with baby’s first bath

  • Running quick errands or doing small grocery runs

  • Prepping food for your family to cook later

  • Light cleaning and organizing

  • Folding endless baby laundry

  • Making herbal teas to aid in recovery and lactation

  • Offering light lactation support

  • Leading gentle postpartum appropriate movement for the birthing parent

  • Teaching you how to use any baby carriers or wraps

  • Listening as you process your birth story

Packages start at 6 sessions spread over the first 6 weeks postpartum (I recommend 2x a week to start). Each session includes approximately 5 hours of in home support.

All postpartum packages are customizable but here are some things that are always included:

  • An hour-long meeting in person or over the phone to plan and discuss packages and any questions and concerns you have about the postpartum period

  • A check-in call close to your due date to finalize any details (or an in-person kitchen walk through for cooking clients)

  • My time being on call starting at week 38

  • Text and phone support starting at week 38 that continues through the end of our package

  • Access to my ever-growing list of recommended podcasts, books and products and local resources

  • Help connecting to other resources including mental health and lactation support

  • Help in connecting you to local parent groups and families with similar aged babies
